カリフォルニアの代理店のSD-WANを展開、管理するためのQOSネットワーク
MPLS契約が期限切れになると、同社は、代理店が自社のネットワークにVMwareのVeloCloud SD-WAN製品を展開するのに役立ちます。QOS Networks won a contract to be California’s exclusive SD-WAN deployment and managed service provider for all state-run agencies. As MPLS contracts expire the company will help agencies deploy VMware’s VeloCloud SD-WAN offering on their network.
California previously selected VMware’s VeloCloud as its exclusive SD-WAN provider. QOS Networks, a VMware partner, subsequently landed a five-year contract with California that can be extended for three additional years. This is the largest government-led deal to date for the company.
The deal calls for QOS Networks to build a gateway system with VeloCloud, connect the edges of the network, and then help each respective state agency manage those deployments, QOS CEO Frank Cittadino told SDxCentral in a phone interview.
“It’s a phased rollout based on agency and so we will work with each individual agency to move over to SD-WAN,” he said. “All the agencies have a cost-reduction mandate, they’re going to be moving off of MPLS and this gives them an avenue to do that.”
California, with assistance from QOS Networks and VMware, wants to reduce costs and improve network connectivity to cloud workflows, Cittadino explained. QOS Networks will take the lead on hardware procurement, network configuration, and design, and deploy SD-WAN for each agency.
“A lot of the different assets that the state’s trying to get to are really limited by the disparate networks that are out there,” he said. “The state’s putting in their own gateway system that connects back to those workflows, which allows really efficient information processing and exchange.”
VMware’s VeloCloud is a market leader, beating out Cisco and Aryaka for total revenues. It’s SD-WAN offering has consistently topped the charts since VMware acquired the company in November 2017, and VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger has praised VeloCloud as one of its “hottest” products.
