The latest is JHComp, which is an internet service provider based in the Czech Republic. JHComp recently replaced its Brocade virtual routers with 6WIND’s 10G Turbo Routers. That transition consisted of the 6WIND vRouter software replacing the Brocade software on JHComp’s SuperMicro white box servers. Štěpán Železný, economic manager at JHComp, explained in a statement that the move improved its platform’s performance and increased its stability. “With 6WIND vRouters, we have high performance software routers to meet our growing ISP demands while using our existing server infrastructure, without additional hardware investments.” Kelly LeBlanc, vice president of marketing at 6WIND, said that the migration “was a straightforward deployment” that did not require any configuration changes to the SuperMicro white boxes. She added that the relationship was initiated by its ISP customers that referred JHComp to the vendor. 6WIND’s market push began following AT&T’s purchase of the Brocade Vyatta vRouter technology in mid-2017. The carrier tapped the technology for its own internal use and discontinued support of the product for other customers. AT&T has since incorporated Brocade’s Vyatta Network Operating System (NOS) stack as an integral part of its white box cell site gateway router. Shortly after the AT&T deal, 6WIND realized that it had the capability to provide a direct replacement for it. That same month it began offering its Turbo Router software to Brocade vRouter customers. LeBlanc said that the company’s pipeline of customers continues to grow. “The ISP community is a strong worldwide market for 6WIND to grow market share with the border router use case,” she said.
